The Waterloo Beat - Live from Moody Amphitheater @ Waterloo Park

The Waterloo Beat began to take shape when Charlie Faye told Scott Davis that she had always wanted to be in a band like Rockpile. "I was just having this same conversation with Craig (Bagby)," he told her. Davis and Bagby, who had played together in multiple projects previously (Kelly Wilils, Bruce Robison, Bonnie Whitmore), had discussed starting a power-pop/pub rock band, and the confluence of Faye's desire to do the same thing brought the three of them together. In no time, they recruited Trevor Nealon (Band of Heathens) and Gary Calhoun James (Hello Wheels, Nick Garza's Get Along), who had similar musical sensibilities. "But the really important thing," added Faye, "is that all five of us wanted to do something that was just pure fun. Rock and roll, low-pressure, and fun."

San Gabriel - Live from Moody Amphitheater @ Waterloo Park

Austin bedroom-pop musician San Gabriel is releasing his debut EP “Employee of the Month.” A dreamy, nostalgic pop collection of songs, written and recorded in an East Austin liquor store.

Named after the river where he spent countless summer nights learning guitar and jamming with childhood bands, San Gabriel features 3-time Austin Music Award recipient James Bookert (Whiskey Shivers/Wild Child) splitting duties as writer, singer and multi-instrumentalist. After having gained experience writing with musicians like with Trinidad James, Raissa, producers Nate Donmoyer, Odie, and sharing the stage with DJ Khalid and Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 3), Bookert began writing and recording for San Gabriel behind the counter at a liquor store as a way to entertain himself during his night shifts.

Bob Appel - Live from Moody Amphitheater @ Waterloo Park

With unlikely roots for a country singer, Northern California native Bob Appel was exposed to the neo-traditional country sounds of Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, George Strait, Dwight Yoakam, and Aaron Tippin as a teen. It took years to appreciate the poetic story-telling, simple musical structure, and heartfelt vocal performance evident in their songs, and to understand that there was a common source of inspiration -- one steeped in country music traditions from prior generations. Since moving to the live music capital in 2010, after years of watching from a seat, Bob Appel stands up every day and night -- at dance halls, festivals, markets, opry shows, honky tonks, beer joints, and bars -- bringing the musical traditions of times gone by to times yet to come.
