HAAM Open Enrollment is starting early and going virtual this year!

In an effort to keep you and HAAM and Foundation Communities' staff safe this year, we are switching the process around a bit. And although we won’t be together in-person, we care about you and want to make sure you have the best enrollment experience possible!

So please read carefully to learn more about what to expect and how to GET READY for a successful Open Enrollment.

HAAM Open Enrollment Will Have 3 Steps This Year:

  1. APPLY - Complete your HAAM application

An email will be sent to you soon - in early September - with a unique link for your renewal application. Complete this ASAP so you can move to step #2.

  2. SCHEDULE - Schedule your virtual Marketplace enrollment appointment

Once you complete your renewal application, you will receive a link to schedule your virtual enrollment appointment. Appointments will be available starting November 2nd and will be spread out over the 6 week Open Enrollment period. No more waiting in line for hours during the first few days of Open Enrollment! IMPORTANT: Premium assistance funds are still available on a first come, first served basis.

  3. ENROLL - Attend your virtual Marketplace enrollment appointment

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss your enrollment appointment! During this appointment, you will meet with an Enrollment Specialist to complete your Marketplace application, review your plan options for 2021 and get enrolled! If you are eligible and funds are available, you will also complete your enrollment in the premium assistance program at this time.

Visit the HAAM Open Enrollment page for more details and be sure to check out our FAQ section too.

Already Have Health Coverage for 2021?

For members who already have health coverage through an employer, spouse, or parent, or are enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, or receiving VA benefits, you don't need to complete steps #2 & #3 above.

However, we still want you as a HAAM member so don't forget to complete step #1 to renew your HAAM membership for 2021 - this ensures you have continued access to HAAM programs.

How Do I Get Ready?

For those who need health insurance coverage for 2021, it’s important that you complete a few tasks to prep to ensure that your enrollment process is as smooth as possible!

√ Check Your Healthcare.gov Login

Be sure you can log into your Healthcare.gov account ahead of time. Save your login information somewhere safe and easily accessible for your virtual Marketplace enrollment appointment. You will need your login information to complete your HAAM application (step #1).

Use this guide for time-saving guidance if you need to reset your password.

√ File Your 2019 Taxes and Include Form 8962

It’s important that you file your 2019 taxes and include Form 8962 with your return. Both pieces are required to be eligible for tax credits towards a 2021 insurance plan. No tax credits = ineligible for premium assistance funds.

Foundation Communities staff are available until September 25th to help you file for free. Don’t wait until the last minute - the Foundation Communities tax team will not be available during Open Enrollment to resolve tax issues.

√ Gather Your Income Information

Remember, the Marketplace application will request an estimate of your projected income for 2021 and that estimate can be adjusted year round.

We understand the process of estimating your income will be more tricky than ever this year, but a good place to start is to gather all income-related documents from 2020 - for your entire tax household.

Examples include: pay stubs, W2, 1099, self-employment ledger, social security and SSDI. Your enrollment expert will help you determine which sources of income are relevant to your income estimate.

And last but not least....

√ Reach Out With Questions

We've got your back! Please don’t hesitate to contact the HAAM Member Services team with any questions.

Email support@myhaam.org or call 512-541-4226 (option 3)

If you anticipate technology access issues during Open Enrollment, let's make an alternate plan ahead of time to get you enrolled!

HAAM loves you!
